Area Police
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say initial examinations show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative commented the attack left him without words and required to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
