Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with former coach his previous coach.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of that year.
Victory also means the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on court had led some to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved service.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour championship, took control to force a final set.
He saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
